Cabárceno

43 km away from Isla we will find the Natural Park of Cabárceno, an ideal place for visiting with children. The Natural Park is not a conventional zoo, neither a natural park.
With its almost 150 animal species of the five continents, they are in regime of semi-liberty that are distributed in enclosures of big surfaces where live one or several species.

Santillana del Mar and Altamira Caves

65 km from Isla, is the most indispensable appointment for every tourist who visit Cantabria.  With historical and artistic value of Spain, this place is essential to visit. 6 km. from Santillana del Mar, are the Altamira Caves, described as the Sistine Chapel of cave paintings. These caves probably contain the most famous prehistoric paintings in the world.

Although the originals caves are closed, tourists can visit the cave’s replica, next to the Altamira Museum.

Santander

The capital of Cantabria is situated 40 km far from Isla. This place is a peaceful and elegant coastal town, which extends over a wide bay with views of th Cantabrian Sea. Moreover, it is considered as one of the moste beautiful bay in the word. With numerous parks and beaches, it is also a dynamic town with many cultural activities all year long.

There are many turistics places: the Sardinero, the Magdalena’s Palace, the Catedral, the Arc of Santander Bank, the MUPAC…

National Park «Picos de Europa»

160 km far from Isla, you can see the National Park of the Picos de Europa, the largest protected place in Spain, that covers the regions of Cantabria, Asturias and León.

Potes is situated near from the National Park, a little town surronded by montains and with incredible landscapes is also know as the bridges and towers town. In this place, the tourist can imagine the past and live an incredible experience in a place full of history.

El Soplao Cave

She was discovered at the beginning of the XX century, on the occasion of the exploitation(development) of the mines of The Florida, is considered to be on of the most geological. In addition the caves preserves an exceptional heritage of industrial archaeology derived from the zinc and lead explotation, from middle of the 19th century and until ends of th 70s, was active in Arnero’s Saw.

Camino Lebaniego

In the Middle Ages, the pilgrims knows as “crucenos” o “cruceros”, walked to Toribio de Liébana to adore to Cross and the rests of Saint Toribio de Astorga. From centuries, people have attributed them curative powers.

In the Christian world, a sacred relic or any subject about a Holy place is related to pilgrimage road.  In that way, Cantabria is a very special place because is the only area that have TWO PILGRIMAGE WAYS.
